Tricolor is one of the taller mid-sized tillandsia usually growing to a maximum of 7-9” but it can reach 12” tall in ideal conditions. It usually has a mixture of colors on it’s leaves (hence the name) but it does color up when it is getting ready to flower. It usually puts out a single flower spike which colors yellow to red with tubular purple blooms. The base of the leaves are dark brown to black which in any other plant would be cause for concern but in this plant it is just part of it’s makeup.
Place them in a bright kitchen window or outside in a mostly shady spot but remember that all tillandsia/air plants flourish with a little morning sun. Soak under water, over night, once per week.
